Arm Lift in Hattiesburg, MS
Dr. Richard A. Pecunia offers arm lifts to patients in Hattiesburg, Forrest County, Lamar County, and surrounding areas.
What Is an Arm Lift?
An arm lift, or brachioplasty, can fix arms that are droopy and sagging due to excess skin and aging. Using a variety of techniques, an arm lift can remove flabby skin and create the well-defined, toned arms you’ve always wanted.
Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Richard A. Pecunia helps patients at his Hattiesburg office get rid of embarrassing arm flab, allowing them to stop hiding under long sleeves and embrace their new bodies. Throughout his career, he has performed countless arm lifts on residents of Hattiesburg, Forrest County, and Lamar County. For more information about how you can benefit from brachioplasty, call Dr. Pecunia’s office today to set up a consultation.
How Are Arm Lifts Performed?
Sometimes, an arm lift can be achieved through a simple liposuction procedure if there is just a small amount of fat. However, for those with larger areas of underarm fat, or patients with poor skin quality, a full upper arm lift may be needed.
The more invasive brachioplasty involves small incisions on the inside or back of your arm. After the incision, Dr. Pecunia may use liposuction to remove excess fat before trimming, tightening, and suturing excessive skin in place.
Am I a Good Candidate for an Arm Lift?
If you are suffering from sagging upper arm skin, you may be a good candidate for an arm lift. Arm lifts are popular among people who have lost a significant amount of weight since this leaves an abundance of excess skin to hang under their arms.
You do not need to be overweight to qualify for an arm lift. Many thin people also suffer with flabby upper arm skin due to genetics and aging. If you have tried everything from weightlifting to Pilates to rid your arms of excess skin but haven’t seen any results, brachioplasty may be the answer.
What Kind of Post-Operative Arm Lift Care Can I Expect?
Following your arm lift, you can expect some swelling, bruising and mild discomfort, which can be alleviated with pain medication. Dr. Pecunia may suggest elevating your arm with pillows to reduce swelling, which should disappear completely within two weeks.
Most of your stitches will dissolve, and Dr. Pecunia will remove the remaining ones within a week. You won’t be able to shower until one week after the procedure, and you can expect to be back to work within two or three weeks.
As with most body contouring procedures, you’ll be advised to avoid any heavy lifting for several weeks. Also, refrain from any strenuous exercise for at least one month.
What Are the Typical Results of Arm Lifts?
Arm lift patients are typically very pleased with their trim, toned arms. They’re now able to wear everything from tank tops to strapless dresses without hesitation or embarrassment.
